TOTAL ZIMBABWE CELEBRATES WORLD DAY FOR SAFETY 2019

In a colourful event on Friday 26 April 2019, Total Zimbabwe joined the world in commemorating the World Day for Safety (WDfS) with key stakeholders in the industry. The 2019 theme for WDfS in the Total group was themed “Zero fatal accidents for me, for you and for all.”

As one of the leading players in the energy sector, safety is a core value at Total. The motive is that every accident no matter how minor can be avoided as it is the responsibility and authority of everyone to step in to intervene when safety rules are breached.

In his opening speech at the event, Total Zimbabwe Managing Director Mr. Ronan Bescond spoke about safety as a very key aspect of business at Total. Unsafe practises cost lives and it is of high importance that Total employees and all suppliers, contractors, dealers and transporters uphold the rules and regulations which will lead to zero fatal accidents.

He went on to emphasise that integrity is also of high importance in the company as it is one of the major values. The various tip off procedures were highlighted and he encouraged constructive dialogue.

In line with the Recognition and Sanction policy, Total Zimbabwe then recognised outstanding safety performance of stakeholders by awarding best transporter, best transporter driver, best contractor and best service station.
